plover from a different mother

I wanted this painting to feel both familiar and slightly unexpected. Inspired by the Maraetai coast, it explores the way memory reshapes a place over time. The Plover, a bird not often a subject of celebration, but are always seen if you look. I used familiar objects in unexpected ways to give the painting a feeling wonder and to spark the imagine. The gold glided frame blends into the painting to suggest there is no boundaries on this piece of art. There is a lot of meaning woven through this painting. Oil on portrait linen canvas.
