Robbie Brian Graham

I aspire to promote woodturning as an art form, rather than functional items. Multi-axis and off-set turning techniques appeal to me so I can create wooden forms giving an illusion of “the nearly impossible.” Living near scenic Lake Taupo, I am inspired by the patterns and shapes I see in nature. For instance, I often embellish the surface with designs based on a leaf motif, outlined and filled with pyrography lines and dots. I enhance the textured patterns by using iridescent paints.
