This painting explores beautiful New Zealand landscape to reflect a connection to place and light. The Pohutukawa tree stands for me as quiet marker of identity and time. I was drawn to the clarity of light and the strength of the tree, displaying its contrast of red flowers and dark green leaves set against a blue sky.
