Helen Richards

I am an abstract artist whose work explores the intimate geography of coastlines, coves and hidden inlets from above. Blending aerial perspective with gestural abstraction, my paintings evoke the organic flow of tides, erosion patterns, and land-water intersections, often inspired by real-world locations.
Working primarily in acrylics and mixed media, I translate the cartographic into the emotional – rendering the natural contours of earth and sea as fluid shapes, layered textures, and subtle colour gradients. My work invites viewers to experience familiar terrains for a mediative, elevated vantage point – where topography becomes memory and abstraction becomes place.
