Ray sits at the table after a long day. Little Arlo joins him as quick as a flash “poppa is home”. There is no time to change from his bright attire. I draw them as to save a warm moment. On the table muka is being extracted from harakeke growing in our garden, with a mussel shell worn just right for the job.
I added the muka from that day as a loosely woven addition, something tangible from a special moment.
Ray might need high vis gear at work to be seen, but at home he is highly visible to his mokopuna.
