Nature’s Messenger captures a fleeting, delicate moment—a pīwakawaka (fantail) perched gently, as if delivering a message from the natural world. Painted in rich impasto, the texture brings the softness of feathers and the veins of the leaf to life, inviting the viewer to pause and observe the quiet conversation between bird and earth. In Māori culture, the fantail is often seen as a messenger or spiritual guide, and here it rests mid-journey, symbolic of both movement and stillness. This piece celebrates the deep connection between all living things, carried on the wings of one of New Zealand’s most iconic birds.
