Pīwakawaka on Karaka

Acrylic on canvas, ‘Pīwakawaka on Karaka’ is a tribute to one of my favourite New Zealand birds – the common fantail. This bird, with its easily identifiable tail, is juxtaposed against the vibrant orange background, a colour I associate with the intense sunsets of my South Waikato family home, where I was often greeted by the Pīwakawaka as I roamed around the garden.
