I made this piece in my culture and the culture of our country. The Pounamu in the shape of a Manaia is held on the bare chest keeping home and culture at and close to the heart. The Moko Kauae is a Maori tatoo which I see on the faces of some of my teachers, I am faccinated with the strength and culture that it represents, it holds the connection with women\\\’s roles in family and leadership. I have put everything together to make a strong connection with my ancestors and my culture.
