‘The Fab Three’.
At the heart of the third painting in the series lies a monochromatic underpainting of a magnificent Jewel Beetle, rendered with exquisite detail. Each curve and facet of its iridescent shell, every delicate antenna, is brought to life through a rich tapestry of single colour tones. But the narrative truly unfolds with the over lay of rich red, bright blue and sundrenched yellow splashing the monochrome form with an unexpected spectrum of light.
The Jewel beetle , often admired for its dazzling beauty, is far more than just an aesthetic marvel. These remarkable insects are silent architects of our eco systems and contribute to the intricate web of life as pollinators, gracefully flitting from native flowers ensuring propagation of plant speices. They are decomposers, tirelessly breaking down organic matter and returning vital nutrients to the soil and an integral food source for countless other creatures.
The delicate balance these beetles help maintain is under threat from habitat loss and human impact. ‘The Fab Three’ series therefore is not just a celebration of beauty, but a poignant reminder of the vital, often unseen, roles the creatures play. It urges us to consider the profound necessity of their protection, for their well being is intrinsically linked to the health and vitality of our planet.
