Tidal Study 2.2

I’ve always loved Neptune’s Necklace, a common seaweed found along New Zealand’s coastline. Its chain of air-filled bladders helps it float with the tide, and I’m fascinated by the similarity between those natural forms and my own process of blowing air into molten glass.

Made one at a time using a blowtorch, these sculptures are mounted like collected specimens. Inspired by natural history collections and the glass models created by Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka in the nineteenth century, they invite a closer look at a species often overlooked despite being so familiar.

These pieces are about observation, curiosity, and wonder in small details.
