This artwork reflects my interpretation of a recent road trip through Northland. The fabric used for the blue sky and light green hill are from larger pieces that I dyed whilst visiting a friend in Kaitaia.
The pieces of fabric, embroidered together, and held together in the circle, gave me a sense of calm acceptance that the pieces of my life are slowly coming together, and that I will find a way to connect all the parts of my whole.
Land of Milk and Coffee - 2025
This piece draws inspiration from the landscape, using a range of creams and browns to reflect a rugged hillside. The fabric pieces are collaged together using embroidery onto a coffee stained background – which led to its title.
This small oil painting captures the peaceful, fleeting moment of escaping into the rhythm of water. It’s about losing yourself in nature’s movement and calm – that quiet sense of freedom when you’re on the water.
The Clutha river in Clyde - 2025
One of my favourite walks when I lived in Clyde. The Clutha river comes quietly in a gloomy day on the other side of the dam. The shores full of green trees and bushes transfer their colour to the water.
The road to Glenorchy is one of the most iconic in the South Island. I took many photos on my way and I chose to paint this one as the sky was beautiful despite the clouds… The windy road shows the way to this beautiful small town, along the bright and peaceful lake.
This stylised representation of Mount William in the Bombay Hills captures the sunrise that so many climb to witness, where colour and light tell a story of transition, warmth & new beginnings. Mount William is our gentle giant, our maunga that overlooks our little town, and how we always know that we are home.
This textured acrylic painting captures the vibrant energy of sunflowers dancing in the wind on a sunny day. Created on wood using a palette knife, the thick, expressive strokes give the petals a sculptural, almost three-dimensional quality. Golden tones burst against a rich teal background, offering warmth and contrast. There’s a sense of motion and […]
Inspired by the scripture “Consider the birds of the air…”, this textured painting invites quiet contemplation. Layers of acrylic and soft gel impasto create a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere where birds glide across a hazy sky of greens and golds. The gentle movement of the flock evokes a sense of freedom, provision, and trust — a […]
Inspired by the depths of the ocean and the scripture “Deep calls to deep” (Psalm 42:7), this piece invites the viewer into a space of stillness and mystery. Layers of acrylic and ink flow together to create a moody, immersive underwater world, capturing the subtle movement and shifting light beneath the surface. Rich textures and […]
