This is an acrylic painting on canvas, inspired by photos my son took while in Greece. What appeals to me is the stark contrast between their ultra white buildings against the beautiful cyan sea. The pretty pink bourganvillias really add to it.

Soft against hard, light against dark, large against small, all suggesting contrasts within this peacefully quiet, yet strong and bold painting of a landscape of contrasts.
In a world full of contrast and conflict as humanity grapples with racial, religious and political differences, this painting reflecting nature in full colour, shows us that although there are stunning contrasts between sky, sea and land they can coexist in beautiful harmony.
In this painting the artist has added a transparent wash over the colourful scribble pattern of the underpainting to make a visual difference of colour and contrast to create the focal points of the yachts, birds and the waves.
