Jan Maree Vodanovich

Jan Maree Vodanovich is a New Zealand artist, photographer, and author whose work explores belonging, memory, and our relationship with the natural world. After almost twenty years documenting New Zealand’s wild Kaimanawa horses, her practice has evolved from photography into mixed-media painting, sculpture, and bas-relief. Through her developing HERD series, she uses the horse as a universal symbol of resilience, freedom, and connection. Working between Tuakau and Mangawhai, Jan creates tactile, story-rich works that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with both themselves and the living world.
