Marcel Zwezerynen

Artist Marcel Zwezerynen draws inspiration from the fundamental tension between order and unpredictability he observes in existence. The core of his practice involves transforming often overlooked materials – quirky castoffs, scrap metal, and industrial remnants. For Zwezerynen, these are not mere objects but vessels carrying narratives of resilience. His engineering expertise allows him to meticulously sculpt these found elements, creating pieces that embody the dynamic between chance and intention. His sculptures are displayed internationally, with prominent New Zealand installations including the Cherry Tree, Pied Shag, and NZ Falcon in Katikati, and Taupo’s towering Giant Bike.
