ENTERING YOUR ARTWORK
Please read through the Entry Form and collate the required information before starting to enter your work. If you are entering three works please enter all details correctly as you are unable to edit after pressing SUBMIT.

You can enter by completing and submitting the online form available from 22 July.
Entries close 25 August.
ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to any Entrant normally resident within Aotearoa New Zealand.
ENTRY FEES
Adults: $20 for each piece of work entered
Youth: Years 7 to 13, $10 for each piece of work entered
Schools: No fee
SECTIONS TO ENTER
The 2024 Franklin Art Show has three Sections.
Please look closely at which section you will enter.
Section 1 Includes Four Themes: Abundance, Identity, Contrast, Pop
Entrants may enter a maximum of three works across all themes.
Section 2 Youth – Years 7 – 13. Youth may enter three works, theme of their choice.
Section 3 Schools – Primary and Intermediate.

OPENING NIGHT TICKETS & AWARD CEREMONY
Join us on Friday 13 September 6.30pm at Franklin: The Centre
As there are a limited number of tickets available please purchase your ticket/s as soon as possible.
Tickets are $25 per adult, primary school aged children and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Ticket purchases have now closed.
SUITABILITY
All works must be original and not infringe the copyright of any other artist. The work must have been completed since March 2023.
Work must not have been exhibited anywhere else in the Auckland Region. The show organisers reserve the right to refuse work that could be considered offensive. No correspondence will be entered into.
Artwork Dimensions
2D works: Works may not exceed 120 cm in width and 120 cm in height. This is inclusive of the frame.
3D works: Base not to exceed 75 cm x 75 cm. Height not to exceed 2 metres. If a piece weighs more than 20kgs the artist will be required to assist with installation. Items which can be folded or draped for display (such as textiles) will be accepted, however the artist understands that this is at the discretion of the Franklin Art Show curatorial team. All free-standing pieces must be stable.
Although all care will be taken, the Franklin Art Show committee reserves the right to decline the display of works deemed to be constructed of extremely fragile or unstable components.
For items with dimensions outside of these ranges, prior approval from the show organisers must be obtained.
SALE OF WORK
All works must be for sale, excluding those entered in the Youth Section. Artists to stipulate the sale price. The Franklin Arts Festival Society Committee will deduct a 30% commission from the price paid for all works sold during the show. Sold work will be available to the purchaser at the end of the show.
IF YOUR ARTWORK IS SOLD
The Franklin Arts Festival Committee will contact you to advise that your work has been sold. At this stage we will ask for your Bank Account Details to ensure a secure payment transaction can be made.
EXHIBITION READY
Labelling
Each entry must have the artist’s name, address, telephone number, Section/Theme, title of the work, and price on the back. The same information must also be on a separate swing tag which is long enough to hang over the front but not below the artwork when hung.
Framing & Hanging
Framed work must be soundly framed with D rings and cord, ready for hanging. Paper pieces and unframed photographic pieces may be hung with bulldog clips and weighted at the bottom or have 4 plastic tags for pinning. All works must be prepared with appropriate provision for hanging or displaying in a professional manner.
Assembly instructions must be included if any assembly is required.
INSURANCE OF WORK
All insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Whilst all due care will be taken, the Franklin Arts Festival Committee is not responsible for any damage or loss that may occur.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Artist contact details will not be supplied to outside parties without consent of the artist. Contact details of those who purchase artwork will also remain confidential.
PUBLICITY
By entering this competition, the artist agrees that the organisers may use the entry for all promotional and media purposes.
SUBMISSION OF WORK
Entries will not be accepted unless entry fees have been paid.
Hand Delivery
Entries are to be hand delivered to the Franklin Arts Centre between 10 am and 7 pm on Tuesday, 10 September 2024
Courier Delivery
Artwork may be couriered in the week before the show, no earlier than Tuesday, 3 September and no later than Tuesday, 10 September.
Address parcels to: Attn. Franklin Arts Centre, 12 Massey Avenue, Pukekohe, 2120.
All work must be packaged securely, in packaging that can be reused to return the works at the end of the exhibition. Please ensure that the outside packaging is clearly labelled with your name and return address. If you require us to courier work back to you, you must include prepaid courier tickets when submitting your work.
COLLECTION OF UNSOLD WORK
The show closes on Sunday 22 September at 1.00pm.
All works must remain until the end of the show (including those sold).
Collection of unsold work is on Sunday 22 September from 2.00pm – 4.00pm UNLESS prior arrangements have been made with the organisers.
You will be notified by email or phone using your supplied contact details if your artwork is sold prior to the show closing. Please check your email prior to coming to the venue on Sunday 22 September.
Please note we do not have adequate storage facilities to keep your work safely after the show is closed.
Courier Collection
Entrants must provide named, prepaid courier tickets for works to be returned by courier. Works to be dispatched once the show closes.
YOUTH SECTION
The Youth section is for artists in school years 7 to 13. The work must be completed since March 2023.
Selling your work is optional in the Youth Section. If you choose to make your entry in the Youth Section available for sale, the price must account for the show’s 30% commission.
AUDREY THOMAS MEMORIAL PRIZE
Artists residing in the current Franklin Local Board area and the historical Franklin District are eligible for the Audrey Thomas Memorial Prize. This is the area spanning the eastern coast of the Hauraki Gulf to the western coast of the Manukau Harbour. It includes inland and coastal settlements such as the Awhitu Peninsula, Karaka, Ardmore, Clevedon, Whitford, Maraetai, Kawakawa Bay and Orere Point, as well as the townships of Pukekohe, Waiuku and Beachlands. To the South, the old boundary includes Port Waikato, Onewhero, Glen Murray, Pukekawa, across to Mangatawhiri and Miranda.
