Feather Lights- Kotuku

Feather Lights- Kotuku

This ink and wash work is executed in a single pigment upon cotton rag paper. The painting is mounted on a wooden board and then sealed with layers of shiny resin adding depth to the foggy, watery world of a West Coast lake. The painting depicts a single kotuku displaying the long, fine, and startlingly white feathers of his mating plumage amongst the water, mud, reeds and shadows of a gloomy, damp winter’s day.
