Festival of Balloons

Row upon row of vivid colours form the beginnings of this painting. The city and balloon shapes are cut from peel and stick contact paper, and then positioned over the painting. A transparent wash covers the background, but still allows the colours to show through.
The excitement then begins, as you don’t quite know what you will see until the shapes are peeled off: first the city appeared, and then as each balloon popped out a magical festival of balloons was revealed.
