Flower of Plethora

Flower of Plethora

I created the Flower of Plethora with the intention of reflecting how our need for want over need has us strangled in our obsession with consumerism. I used an upcycled Rimu bench to make the base. The flower is created from an old oven cloth made from scraps of fabric by my grandmother 70 years ago. Rusty car parts used for the stem. Recycled copper wire representing the prison we’ve built for ourselves, and chess pieces symbolizing man. The shells, broken glass, rope and china mosaic are demonstrating our waste overflowing onto our land and into our sea. Abundance.
