In a stark black-and-white painting, a young Palestinian girl sits alone in the middle of a destroyed town. No family. No one to comfort her other than the teddy bear that she holds. Her muted figure and surroundings contrast sharply with the bright red of the teddy, the splash of colour symbolising fleeting comfort along with a stolen childhood. Innocence juxtaposed against a bleak, harsh reality.
