In this painting, Saint Mary kneels in despair before a mosaic-like, geometric landscape, her sorrow symbolising her anguish over what is currently happening to the land she loves. Where a group of people are continually bombarded because of their identity, an identity that is directly linked to where they were born. The golden accents, bold colours, and luminous sky further highlights the biblical context.
