Fairy tale come to life - 2024
The way that when children read fairy tales it comes to life due to their wild imaginations, the open book represents a fairy tale coming to life.
the flowers represent the celebration of a new life, a new person, a new something and the hands represent reaching for that something new.
This piece features the great egret in a watery landscape. There are blurred strips that cross through the painting, which represent the unknown of life. Sometimes we cannot clearly see our purpose or where our future leads, but there’s a strange beauty in going with the flow and seeing where it takes you.
This piece is a sewn version of a ‘Devine Feminine’ form. When sewn in beautiful ways and fabrics, it is a lovely prop, but also a lovely cushion, or nighttime ‘huggee-pillow’. The ‘Pillow Prince’ will follow at some point.
I love the abundance of early summer blooms. I created the photo by floating the flowers in water, swirling the bright colours and placing the darker foliage around the edges.
The image is a bright, glowing pohutakawa tree against a threatening early summer sky. I loved the contrast of the dark sky and the bright red blooms and the green foreground.
The hanging sphere is reminiscent of a balloon suspended over a child’s birthday party.
Sculpture of an anthropomorphic frog in streetwear, constructed with wire, tape, modelling paste, spray paint, fluid acrylics and copper leaf. The image is an in-progress shot.
Pencil and coloured pencil drawing of a French Bulldog wearing a scarf, mounted on a framed wooden panel with gold leaf embellished Anemone flowers and Ginkgo leaves in the background. The image is an in-progress shot.
The transition between summer and autumn is reflected in the contrasting colours of nature that meld and blend together.
