A Sculpture shaped like a boat’s hull sailing away as if adrift in time. The vessel is filled with a plethora of knitting needles each one standing upright in a chaotic yet deliberate arrangement creating a profusion of colour. The boat symbolizes a Journey away from traditional skills, with the abundance of needles representing the once common art of knitting now fading into obscurity. The piece contrasts with the rich heritage of old crafts with the modern world’s loss of these once essential skills. I think of all the hands that have held them and their creations now abandoned.
