This piece was super fun to make. What triggered the creative idea was the adorable miniature coffee cups I had sourced. I experimented with many different backgrounds and materials but settled on using a real coffee mix and the saucers of the mini cups to make the rings. I wanted to add tiny people also, each with their own personality. Most of the people are waiting in a queue as this coffee shop has the reputation for having ‘the best brew in town’ and they are waiting to be served as it’s a busy Friday morning. Some customers are impatient as they need to get to work, a couple are waiting for their friends to arrive and others are happy just chatting among themselves. I wanted to include the glass of the frame in order to represent a shop window.
The ironic thing I like about this art piece was that during the process I often had a coffee aka ‘hug in a mug’ nearby which kept me going.
