The Pied Shag - Karuhiuhi

Since I have taken an interest in photographing birds – I have paid a visit to the Western Springs Wildbird Sanctuary on a few occasions in recent times. On one of these occasions I happen to come across this Pied Shag sitting on a rock. The rock is situated in the Western Springs Te Wai Orea lake and is fed by natural springs. The Pied Shag was looking very regal and imposing, as the gentle winter sun began setting in the sky.
