In this painting of Great Mercury Island, I aimed to be more expressive with both my brushwork and the simplification of forms. I expanded my colour palette, drawing inspiration from the expressive use of colour and gesture seen in the work of the early Expressionists as I painted.
This timber wall hanging “MARAMA” is made from Recycled Rimu and symbolises the moon. The piece captures the essence of the moon’s cycle, inviting a sense of calm and a deeper understanding of the natural world’s continuous flow.
