Emma Walker

I am a contemporary ceramic artist whose work explores the sentient
life of nature through form and surface.
I am fascinated by the intersection between human experience and the perceived intelligence inherent in the natural world. I often combine wheel-thrown, hand-built, and carved ceramic forms, finishing them with intricate painted underglaze.

Drawing inspiration from botanical, marine, and imagined organic structures, her sculptural pieces speak through the language of clay, its memory, resistance, and responsiveness.

My motivation is to capture the porous boundary between the human and the more-than-human, inviting contemplation of the vast intelligence that exists beyond ourselves.
