Saori weavers have no expectation to create a “perfect” cloth.
The emphasis is on colour and texture.
I very rarely weave with a finished item in mind rather, I enjoy the process of creating the cloth which is always unique and cannot be replicated.
The next stage, once the cloth is off the loom, washed and pressed is, “what can this become?”
I create garments with little or no waste preferably by draping on a mannequin and deciding the most suitable way for the cloth. I consider drape, handle, colours and pattern. Saori weavers call this “listening to the cloth.”
Thank you to all our sponsors
On behalf of the Franklin Arts Festival we would like to extend our gratitude to all our sponsors.
Without their generous patronage the Art Show would not take place.
As an event we depend on their support and in return we hope you can support them too.
